With script, director, and release date locked in, who will play Hal Jordan? Ain’t It Cool News has a rumour that Justin Timberlake tried out for the role yesterday. “That does not mean that JT is going to be Hal Jordan, but just that he’s one of the guys that they’ve been seriously considering for the role,” says Harry Knowles. The Hollywood Reporter then reports Timberlake is one of three actors under serious consideration; Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds being the others. Meanwhile, MTV Splashpage ponders the real reason behind Nathan Fillion and Rainn Wilson’s visit to DC Comics.

Now it is official. Brenden over at The Blu-Ray Blog emailed me this morning to let me know the five-disc collectors edition of the film has finally been confirmed. This version will feature “Tales of the Black Freighter” woven into the film. It will also feature the complete “Watchmen Motion Comics” and the “Under the Hood” documentary released on the “Black Freighter” disc earlier this year. What is unclear is if this “Ultimate” set will feature the other versions on the film or previous special features.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (via Comic Book Movie) is reporting an open casting call for martial artists to appear as part of the Foot Clan in the upcoming live action film. The open call will take place on July 18th in Hollywood.

Comics Continuum (via MTV Splashpage) reports plans are in the works for a Jonah Hex animated short. “The short will likely be attached to one of the direct-to-DVD animated films based on DC Comics characters. According to sources, multiple shorts are being produced for inclusion with the movies. It’s likely the shorts will then be put together for a compilation DVD, which might also include new material,” says the report.
