Green Arrow drops in to provide Batman with some unwanted backup in a scene from today’s special one-hour premiere of “Justice League Action.”
In “Shazam Slam,” which is actually four 11-minute episodes united by one storyline, the villainous Brothers Djinn are set loose from their prison within the Rock of Eternity, and it’s up to the Justice League to stop them before they succeed in returning Earth to its fiery primordial state.
This sequence showcases not only some of the action in the new animated series, but also the humor, as Superman (voiced by Jason Lewis) feigns a bad connection as Batman (Kevin Conroy) insists he doesn’t need assistance to capture the djinn Uthool, Help arrives anyway in the form of Green Arrow (Chris Diamantopoulos), who lands on the hood of the Batmobile and lets an arrow fly before Batman slams on the breaks and sends the Emerald Archer reeling.
The video, which arrives courtesy of DC Entertainment, includes an interview with lead character designer Shane Glines, who discusses the challenge of coming up with a different approach to the heroes after being such a great admirer of Bruce Timm’s iconic versions.
“Justice League Action” premieres today at 6 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network before moving into its regular time slot at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, beginning Dec. 24.
