With plenty of mayhem, death and violence, "Gotham" is definitely far removed tonally from a classic '90s sitcom like "Friends." But, as a new fan video from Giuls Shofer proves, the show's actually a lot closer to being a sitcom than you'd think.

The cleverly edited clip focuses on the moments of levity that populate every installment of "Gotham," be it close up shots of characters smiling or laughing, or the few dinner parties that have appeared on the show over the last few seasons. The credits almost make you wish to see a straight up sitcom based on Bruce Wayne's pre-Batman life. A precocious orphan adopted by a curmudgeonly butler and surrounded by a whole bunch of over-the-top characters? It could work!

Starring Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordon, "Gotham" airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on Fox. The series also stars David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova as young Selina Kyle, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins, Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney and more.
