Forbes got in touch with an insider at Warner Bros. and managed to confirm that the Gotham City Sirens project is still very much alive. "Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy are super important to us-- And a super cool team, too!" The rumors came from a recent report, the same one in which the Joker & Harley Quinn movie was revealed to be happening.

So, how do Joker and Harley Quinn tie in to each movie and what roles will they play? It's hard to say, but after the events of Suicide Squad with Joker breaking Harley out of Belle Reve, their movie would be a natural follow-up. Perhaps the film could showcase their unusual relationship, wreaking havoc on the streets of Gotham City, until Harley finally breaks free of Joker's abuse. After that, perhaps Harley will find solace in teaming up with Catwoman and Poison Ivy in Gotham City Sirens, organically following the events of the previous movie.

Jared Leto's Joker is set to return for Suicide Squad 2 and the Joker & Harley Quinn flick. Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn for the upcoming instalments in the DC Extended Universe, though there are no words on who'll play Catwoman and Poison Ivy just yet.

Directed by Suicide Squad‘s David Ayer, Gotham City Sirens is believed to be inspired by the DC Comics title of the same name by Batman: The Animated Series writer Paul Dini and Guillem March, which teamed Harley Quinn with Catwoman and Poison Ivy. No targeted release date has been announced.
