As young Bruce Wayne embraces his destiny as the city's protector on Gotham, he'll turn to a familiar source for help -- with his armor, that is.

In promos for the upcoming fourth season, David Mazouz's would-be hero graduates from a simple hood and flowing coat to something more durable, and better suited to the needs of an upstart vigilante. As eagle-eyed viewers may have gathered from teasers, the body armor isn't the work of Alfred Pennyworth, but rather Wayne Enterprises executive turned police forensic scientist Lucius Fox (played by Chris Chalk).

“Yes, Lucius is beginning to suspect that Alfred and Bruce might have a double life and politely weaves his way in,” Gotham showrunner Danny Cannon confirmed to TVLine. “Lucius has worked for Wayne Industries and he may work there again one day, and for right now he doesn’t want to see Bruce get hurt. So he finds a way of helping without interfering.”

That of course brings Gotham's Lucius Fox a little closer to the portrayal of the character in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, where be comes aware of Bruce Wayne's secret identity, and designs Batman's weapons, vehicles and other technology.
