Set photos of actor Nathan Fillion leaked during the production of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, hinting that the actor was once slated to appear on-screen as Simon Williams, also known as the superhero Wonder Man. The leaked images revealed a theater on Earth hosting a Simon Williams Film Festival, as well as a few blurry posters for movies starring the character -- Williams is an actor in the comics. While the scene referencing Wonder Man was eventually axed because it slowed down the film, Gunn has now released those posters on Facebook.

Each poster parodies a popular movie. For example, the Tony Stark biopic's poster resembles one for Danny Boyle's 2015 Steve Jobs biopic. However, not all of the references are as simple as they appear. The Haxan 2 poster, which parodies Alexandre Aja's 2013 fantasy-horror film Horns, has been the subject of some debate. Gunn has said that there's a reference in the poster that no one has gotten yet. The director has promised a signed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 poster for the first person to tell him what he's referencing.

Fillion's role, or lack thereof, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been a popular subject. Just before the film's release in May, Fillion released a photo on his Instagram that he claimed was from a cut cameo. Many took the image seriously, leading Gunn to state that that Fillion only appeared on posters and that Fillion was, in fact, joking. Luckily, for those who wish to see Fillion as Wonder Man, Gunn has asserted that the posters are canon and that he hopes Williams will "rise again."
