When “Guardians of the Galaxy” released in 2014, a lot of viewers were taken back by its un-Marvel like nature. Not only were the characters completely different from what audiences had seen from previous Marvel films, but the soundtrack to the flick was a breath of fresh air. The mixtape soundtrack that was released even managed to go Platinum -- so, obviously, fans are excited to hear what's in store for the "Awesome Mix Tape Vol. 2" accompanying the sequel. Well, director James Gunn says audiences won’t be disappointed.

In a recent interview with Super Interssante about the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Gunn was questioned on what fans can expect from the second film's soundtrack. “The second soundtrack is great," Gunn said. "I think it’s more diverse soundtrack. I think the first soundtrack [had] a bunch of songs that maybe you heard but didn’t know the name of the song - you didn’t know the name of the singer. In this one, we have some really incredibly famous songs and then some songs that people have never heard. So, it’s a much more diverse soundtrack.”

We’re still some time away from seeing the film in theaters and hearing the soundtrack for ourselves, but thanks to the teaser and trailer that Marvel has released, we do know that the Fox on the Run song “Sweet” will most likely be a part of it.

Directed by Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and many, many others, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
