The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will see guest star Kevin Bacon showing off some of his musical talents.

Speaking to Access, Star-Lord's hero will team up with an alien version of The Old 97's to sing an original piece of music. "I love to sing, I love to play, James sent me that song and I thought it was a really cool song," Bacon explained. "It's very hard to come up with a new idea for a Christmas song but The Old '97s cut this really cool Christmas song and I got to sing it with them, they're actually in the band in alien make-up, so I had nothing but fun."

Bacon, who will be playing himself in Marvel's festive Special Presentation, will be the target of the Mantis and Drax, who will be attempting to kidnap the Tremors star as a present for Star-Lord. James Gunn, who has directed every installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has openly acknowledged that Bacon is his favorite character in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beyond his role in cheering up Peter Quill and singing alongside The Old 97's, it remains unclear whether Bacon's trip into the MCU will be a once-off deal or whether he will return in a future project.

Bacon's involvement in Holiday Special is just one of several aspects that have excited Gunn about the project. The acclaimed filmmaker, who recently took over as the co-head of Warner Bros. Discovery's DC Universe, has stated that the Guardians' latest adventure may be his favorite production yet. "The Holiday Special is the greatest thing I've ever done in my life," Gunn explained. "It’s totally ridiculous, and every day we can't believe that we're making it. We all completely love it. It is unlike anything that anyone's ever seen before."

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will serve as the epilogue to Phase 4 of the MCU, and will set up 2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The third film in the cosmic franchise will serve as Gunn's final outing with the team he turned into a household name and according to the cast, the finale was a difficult experience for everyone. "There was, of course, so much fun in the film and seeing fun sequences where the emotion isn’t so heavy, but ohh, there are scenes where the emotion is heavier than it’s ever been in the Guardians world," said star Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula. "It was hard to get through some of it."

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on Nov. 25.
