Just when it seems Barry Allen has his hands full with Savitar, a new super-powered Rogue and preventing the death of Iris West, it looks as if The Flash will have to prepare for gorilla warfare in the second half of Season Three.

Actor David Sobolov, who voices Gorilla Grodd, confirmed this morning that the telepathic meta-ape will return to "The Flash" in 2017.

Happy New Grodd! #Grodd comes back in 2017 on @CW_TheFlash ! More news soon when Warner Brothers unseals my lips. pic.twitter.com/14O8BFiBve— David Sobolov (@volobos) December 29, 2016

A S.T.A.R. Labs test subject that gained psychic powers following the particle accelerator explosion, Grodd debuted in the first season of "The Flash," and worked with Harrison Wells/Reverse-Flash against Barry Allen. He briefly returned in the second season, only to be sent to a jungle refuge on Earth Two to live among gorillas like himself.

Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg teased over the summer that the series would head to Gorilla City in Season Three for a two-part episode. A report earlier this month from the set of the CW drama also identified actors in motion-capture suits as playing Grodd and Savitar, the ancient speedster known as the "God of Speed."

How, or precisely when, Grodd returns to face The Flash remains to be seen.

Returning Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, "The Flash" stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin and Keiynan Lonsdale.
