Welcome to the latest edition of Golden Age Christmas, where we will feature a different Golden Age Christmas comic book story every day from now until Christmas Eve!

Today we look at a story by Walt Kelly from 1945's Christmas With Mother Goose, specifically the tale of how Santa Claus came to meet Ma and Pa Hubbard!

When the story begins, Ma and Pa Hubbard are in dire straits. Their small shoemaking business is doing so poorly that they have literally no money or food in the house. Just enough leather for one pair of shoes. Pa Hubbard begins working on the shoe at night, figuring he'll finish it in the morning. Instead...

So they do, in fact, stow away...

Once Santa Claus discovers them...

Very cute story of people "paying it forward."
