Welcome to the latest edition of Golden Age Christmas, where we will feature a different Golden Age Christmas comic book story every day from now until Christmas Eve!

Today we look at the last of three stories from Dell's 1943 Santa Claus Funnies #2 called the "Santa's Christmas Gift" by Walt Kelly.

It is winter time and that little jerk Jack Frost is REALLY giving it to everyone, making it a terrible winter for a small family in a cabin (two young children and their sick mother) as well as all of the woodland creatures. Their peril is made clear when a rabbit uncovers a small apple...

They feed the animals, but the brother and sister begin to realize how badly this screws THEM for the rest of winter. Then, the little girl has an idea...

The brave pigeon fights off Jack Frost all the way to the North Pole, which is quite bad ass of the pigeon, right?

So Santa then comes and saves the day...

Cute story by Kelly (thanks to Matthew Johnson for the Kelly guess - you're totally right, Matthew!) about the power of kindness. Here, their aide to the woodland creatures results in Santa saving them from a terrible situation.
