The upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie has cast Cabin in the Woods star Bradley Whitford in an undisclosed role. Whitford joins actress Millie Bobby Brown and actor Kyle Chandler in the sequel film that looks to follow up on Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is slated to debut in theaters in 2019, and will be followed by Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be directed by Krampus helmer Michael Dougherty, with writing credits from Zach Shields, Max Borenstein and Dougherty. Plot details for the upcoming sequel have yet to be released.

Both Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong are entries in Legendary’s MonsterVerse cinematic universe that looks to assemble the likes of Godzilla, King Kong, Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah into one, continuous cinematic continuity.

Whitford played Steven Hadley in Cabin in the Woods, a technician who oversaw the cabin in the woods sacrificial ritual that kept world-ending forces at bay until he was killed by a rampaging Merman. Whitford also played Josh Lyman, a White House Deputy Chief of Staff, in The West Wing television show.
