Even the King of the Monsters can get tangled in red tape.

More than a month after Godzilla was named Tokyo tourism ambassador and honorary resident of Shinjuku ward, Rocket News24 reports this week he finally received his residency documents.

To celebrate, the ward is giving away copies of those papers to fans who stop by the ward offices, which surely violates some kind of privacy law. But of course, if Tokyo can forgive Godzilla's 28 attacks on the city, he can probably turn an enormous blind eye to this infraction -- at least until somebody steals his identity (it happened before, in 1998).

According to Rocket News24, the document reads:

Name: Godzilla

Address: Shinjuku-ku, Kabuki-cho, 1-19-1

Date of birth: April 9, 1954 [the year of the release of the very first Godzilla film]

Date of becoming a Shinjuku resident: April 9, 2015

Reason for special residency: Promoting the entertainment of and watching over the Kabuki-cho neighborhood and drawing visitors from around the globe in the form of the Godzilla head built atop the Shinjuku Toho Building.

Previous visits to Shinjuku Ward: 3 times; Godzilla (1984), Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991), Godzilla 2000 Millennium (1999)

The question remains, however, whether Godzilla's son Minilla is now also an honorary resident of Shinjuku ward. Or is he too annoying for even Tokyo to forgive?
