Ahead of the July debut of Go Go Power Rangers, BOOM! Studios has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at the “Civilian” and “Locker” variant covers for the first five issues.
The Civilian covers are by Miguel Mercado, and the Locker covers are by Michelle Wong. Each cover depicts a Ranger in his or her everyday attire or peeking into a school locker.
The publisher’s second ongoing Power Rangers series, Go Go Power Rangers takes place after the first episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and follows the original five Rangers — Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini and Billy. The story covers how ordinary teenagers learn to balance high school with their new responsibilities as superheroes.
“It’s hard enough being a teenager and juggling relationships, school, and family — I can’t even imagine throwing in protecting the world,” said writer Ryan Parrott, who collaborates on the series with artist Dan Mora. “The goal of Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is to focus on more personal, intimate character stories. We dive deeper to fully examine the wish-fulfilling, awesomeness of having superpowers, along with the pressure of that responsibility.”
The Civilian and Locker variant covers can be found in the gallery above, while the solicitation for August’s Go Go Power Rangers #2 can be seen below:
