George R.R. Martin has released a lengthy excerpt from his next book in the bestselling "A Song of Ice and Fire" series -- titled "The Winds of Winter" -- that is written from the perspective of a character that's yet to appear on HBO's "Game of Thrones."

As posted on Martin's blog, the sample chapter is told through Arianne Martell, the Dornish princess and daughter of Prince Doran Martell (Alexander Siddig). In it, she considers an alliance with someone claiming to be Aegon Targaryen, the Mad King's son who was thought to be dead. All elements from the passage have yet to be played out on the TV series.

Martin also addressed the delayed completion of his novel in the post, writing, "And no, just to spike any bullshit rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done...Monkey is still on my back...but he's growing, he is, and one day..."

"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
