In the latest edition of DC Entertainment's weekly "DC All Access" video series, DC chief creative officer Geoff Johns commented on five of the currently in-development DC Comics-based TV series.

Starting with "The Flash," eyed as a potential "Arrow" spinoff, Johns called Grant Gustin "an amazing actor" and not "just another square jawed, broad-shouldered superhero." Gustin is set to make his debut as Barry Allen on the eighth episode of the CW series, "The Scientist," scheduled to air on Dec. 4. Johns dubbed Gustin "very, very different from ["Arrow"] star Stephen Amell" -- though, like Amell, Gustin was the first actor to audition for his role.

Acknowledging that "Hourman" is something of an unconventional choice, Johns stated, "I call it our dark horse, because he's such an obscure character, but the concept of the show is really great, and the writer's really great." "Hourman" is also in development at The CW, with "The Sopranos" writer Michael Caleo attached to write and executive produce with Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz.

Johns also praised Bruno Heller, the writer and executive producer of Fox's Commissioner Gordon-centric pilot "Gotham", and briefly mentioned "iZombie" (in development at The CW) and "Constantine" (in the works at NBC).

Turning to his work writing "Justice League" for DC's publishing division, Johns said he intends to use Shazam and Cyborg as the "Booster Beetle and Blue Gold" of his run on the book. "Their powers work really interesting together," Johns said. "When Shazam uses his lightning to charge Cyborg up, something really interesting happens."
