Like the producers of "Game of Thrones," star Kit Harington appears to be sticking with the "Jon Snow is dead" story.

Although Harington's brooding Lord Commander of the Night's Watch was seemingly murdered by his own men in the Season 5 finale of the hit HBO drama (and, for that matter, in George R.R. Martin's 2011 novel "A Dance With Dragons"), fans have long maintained the character somehow survived -- by chance or by magic. He's even appeared prominently in the marketing for Season 6.

However, when Harington appeared Tuesday on "BBC Breakfast," he again toed the official line. "All I can tell you is Jon Snow is dead," he said. "He died at the end of the last season."

When co-host Bill Turnbull interjected, "But his spirit lives on?," the actor replied, "Who knows? You’ll have to wait and see. It’s going to be a very exciting season, so I’m led to believe."

Perhaps we'll learn the answer when "Game of Thrones" returns Sunday, April 24, on HBO.
