There are few more dramatic ways to reveal the date a massively popular television series will return than freezing said date inside a giant block of ice that slowly melts over the course of 15 minutes as it is bombarded with steady streams of fire, but that’s exactly what HBO did to reveal the return date of its prestige fantasy drama series, “Game of Thones.”
“Game of Thrones” will return to HBO for its seventh season on July 16, 2017. The season will be adapted from outlines for the yet-to-be-released sixth and seventh books in author George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring.”
“Game of Thrones” adapts the “Song of Ice and Fire” series by George R.R. Martin, a world-spanning fantasy tale that details both the minute political struggles and massive medieval battles of the kingdom of Westeros and beyond, all for control of the Iron Throne, the highest seat of power in Westeros.
“Game of Thrones” seventh season debuts on HBO on July 16, 2017. The series was adapted for television by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The seventh season is slated to star Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen and Kit Harington as Jon Snow.
