"Game of Thrones" reportedly has cast Melanie Liburd as a red priestess in the upcoming sixth season of the hit fantasy drama.

Deadline suggests the addition of the actress may "indicate a new direction" for the red priestess Melisandre (played by Carice Van Houten), "or at the very least a new incarnation." However, that doesn't seem likely.

"Game of Thrones" fan site Watchers on the Wall caught wind of Liburd's casting last week, when she revealed on Instagram that she was heading to Spain, where the Mereen scenes are being filmed. While it's certainly possible that Melisandre flees the Wall following the events of Season 5, and maybe even adopts a new face (not unheard of in the world of "Game of Thrones"), it's more probable that Liburd is simply playing another red priestess. After all, the Lord of Light has many followers, and many clergy (we've already met a few of the latter).

Liburd has appeared on "Strike Back," "Dracula," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and, most recently, "The Grinder."
