"Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman is in talks to helm Lionsgate's newest young-adult adaptation "Chaos Walking."

Based on Patrick Ness' trilogy of the same name, "Chaos Walking" is set in a dystopian world where all creatures can hear each other's thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise. The script was written by "Adaptation's" Charlie Kaufman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the property has been in development since 2011 at Lionsgate, with Robert Zemeckis previously set to direct.

Liman, who's also attached to direct "Gambit," was reported in March to be circling Amazon Studios' "The Wall" after production of the Channing Tatum film was delayed by rewrites. Although cameras are expected to begin rolling on "Chaos Walking" in the fall, IGN contends Liman remains on board "Gambit."
