We got an email from El Mayimbe noting fresh rumors that actor Brendan Fraser has already filmed a cameo as character Gung Ho and that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been offered the role of Shipwreck. Directed by Stephen Sommers, the movie will be released August 7, 2009.
News from The Hollywood Reporter notes that actors Ving Rhames and Rosamund Pike will work alongside Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell in the graphic novel adaptation.

Sticking around Gotham for a bit, an email from Rich Sands noted this link at TV Guide caught the Cartoon Network upfront presentation, which noted the new animated series will team the Dark Knight with other DCU heroes like Green Arrow and Blue Beetle. Thanks also to MDawg for noting that.

Eventide has words from film sound mixer Alan Meyerson talking about working on the soundtrack for the metal-minded Marvel movie. “I was struggling to find the right ambiance,” said Meyerson, “because it needed to have a rock feel and I didn’t want an overly wet mix. I wasn’t getting what I was looking for but, when I found the Eventide Reverb in the Anthology II plug-ins, I knew I hit pay dirt. It gave me a live feeling without a disproportionate amount of reverb.”
According to Sci Fi Wire, the third season premiere is five and a half months away, and will be a three hour event on September 15th — an hour of clips and two hours of new material.
They also note that the show will air in a block with “Chuck” and “Medium” without reruns for thirteen straight weeks.
Keeping it coaxial for a moment, why exactly did Al Gough and Miles Millar leave the show? Action-Figure.com has a theory, with a creamy rumor coating. “Inside sources have been telling me for over a year that tensions between the cast and Al Gough have been high with some claiming Tom Welling had threatened to quit on more than one occasion over his character portrayal. Just moments ago, I had the chance to speak with one of my WB insiders who claims that after several months of talks, execs gave Gough the option to leave on his own terms or be replaced. Apparently, Millar simply followed his leader out the door.”
Kryptonsite has a note from the network talking about who’s taking over. “Executive Producers Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will helm the show next season,” the announcement read.

Geeks of Doom has six new production stills for the Guillermo del Toro-helmed sequel.
Sci Fi Wire has quotes from screenwriting/directing team Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, talking about completing the screenplay draft. “When we move some of these projects off of our plates, we’ll focus on Jonah, and I think fans will like it,” Neveldine said. “They’ll be surprised.” Taylor said, “The script is done. We’re happy with it.”
