G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA
There are six new character-specific promotional posters for the Stephen Sommers-helmed action movie at MySpace Trailer Park.
Also, actor Josephn Gordon-Leavitt talked to Hit Fix about why he chose the project. He said, “People have been asking me about ‘G.I. Joe’ like, ‘Oh, it’s so different.’ Or, ‘You normally do these works of art and now you’re doing this.’ But I’ll tell you the truth, the reason I did ‘G.I. Joe’ was the same reason I did ‘Brick’ or ‘Mysterious Skin’ or ‘500 Days of Summer’ or ‘The Lookout’ or anything else, which is that I was creatively inspired. I’ll tell you what it was. It was when they showed me drawings of the design for my character’s look. I was like, ‘I get to be that? You’re going to make that in real life and stick it on me? Cool. Let me do it.’ That’s a once-in-lifetime opportunity. Actors throughout the ages would be flabbergasted at the abilities of modern storytelling and technology. I was honored and, beyond honored, I had a f***ing blast getting to play with these toys.”
Starring Channing Tatum, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Sienna Miller, release date August 7, 2009.
CBR News has a feature article with voice actor Fred Tatasciore, who voices the jade-jawed giant.
Voice actor Steve Blum was the subject of an interview at Mania.com, discussing how he gets into character as Wolverine. “I just take out all the frustration I’ve got in other places in my life and let it out in there,” Blum said. “I remember driving to a session, which is kind of across town for me and just getting through traffic, instead of screaming at traffic and flipping people off, I would save it, bottle it up and let it out in the studio.”
Finally, voice actor Nolan North was the subject of a video clip showing what it’s like to be the first animated version of the character.
Release date: today.
You’ll probably not see many interviews like this one, where director Zack Snyder talks weightlifting, Ren Faires and of course Dr. Manhattan’s, er, privacy. “There’s this thing called the MPAA. They barely let me show it in an R-rated movie, let alone a trailer. But you know what? For whatever reason, it’s OK to watch a flaccid penis for a while [on screen]. It’s ‘like Forgetting Sarah Marshall.’ So [Billy Crudup] is naked through a fair share of the movie. It’s helpful that he’s CG, too. And blue.”
Release date : March 6, 2009.

According to the New Zealand Herald, the project “has fallen victim to the current economic climate … A source said: ‘Paramount are still keen to make Torso but don’t want it to be an expensive risk so are looking at ways to bring it in for less money. If they can’t make their sums work, other Hollywood studios may well step in.'” Thanks to Mark Brash for the tip.
David Fincher is attached to direct.
Casting information is available at Rope of Silicon, noting that Jamie Bell will play the title role, Daniel Craig will play the pirate Red Rackham, and screenwriting credits now go to Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish.
Release date: 2010.
Kryptonsite has posted fresh spoilers from the upcoming episode, “Stiletto.”
Next episode, January 29, 2009, “Power.”
