FX will return to the blood-splattered snow of Fargo with a second installment of the Emmy-nominated crime thriller.
Announced today, the 10-episode miniseries will feature a new setting and new cast of character, again written by Noah Hawley.
Based on the Academy Award-winning 1996 by Joel and Ethan Coen, the original miniseries starred Billy Bob Thornton as Lorne Malvo, a manipulative hitman who meets and forever changes the life of Minnesota insurance salesman Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman) and those around him.
“We could not be more proud of Fargo,” John Landraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, said in a statement. “Noah’s audacious, bordering on hubristic riff on my favorite Coen brothers film earned 18 Emmy nominations – the most for a single program in our history. Fargo was nothing short of breathtaking and we look forward to the next installment.”
Among Fargo‘s Emmy nominations are Outstanding Miniseries, Outstanding Lead Actor for Thornton and Freeman, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Colin Hanks, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Allison Tolman, and Outstanding Writing for Hawley.
