Fire up the woodchipper, Fargo is looking to make a comeback on television. First mentioned in March, FX is now beginning development of a series loosely based on the 1996 crime film by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, Deadline reports. The Coens are on board to executive produce the hour-long drama.
Fargo starred Frances McDormand in her Oscar-winning role as a pregnant police chief investigating a series of murders spurred by an inept car salesman (played by William H. Macy) who hires two criminals (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife.
Noah Hawley, who wrote and produced on Bones and My Generation, will write the pilot and also executive produce. MGM Television and FX Productions will co-produce.
