John DiMaggio has officially joined the cast of the Futurama revival.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DiMaggio will return as the voice of Bender, among other characters, for Hulu's revival of the long-running animated series. When Futurama's return was first announced, DiMaggio's role in the series had not yet been confirmed. He joins original castmates Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman.

"I'M BACK, BABY!," DiMaggio said in a statement. "So damn grateful for the love and support of fans and colleagues alike during this whole time (especially my wife, Kate), and I cannot wait to get back to work with my Futurama family. #Bendergate is officially over, so put it on the back of a shelf behind Xmas decorations, or maybe in that kitchen drawer with all of the other crap you put in there like old unusable crazy glue, or maybe even put it in a jar you save farts in. Whatever floats your boat, I don't care, you get the picture. I'M BACK, BABY! BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!"

Hulu's Futurama revival was announced on Feb. 9 with the sci-fi comedy series expected to return for a 20-episode run, helmed by original series creator Matt Groening and showrunner David X. Cohen. At the time of the announcement, most of the original cast was set to return, though DiMaggio was still finalizing his deal to return as the voice of the wise-cracking robot, Bender. DiMaggio's absence from the returning cast immediately sparked outrage from fans, causing the hashtag #JohnDiMaggioIsBender to trend on social media.

DiMaggio's initial decision not to return to Futurama was due to a pay dispute. In a previously released statement, the voice actor explained that he not only believed that he deserved higher pay for his work but so did the entire cast. However, the deal has officially been closed and DiMaggio will reprise his role as Bender for the revival.

"From the moment John DiMaggio auditioned last century, we knew we had our Bender," Groening said in a statement. "So congrats to everyone at Futurama. We're all back, baby!" Canceled by Fox in 2003, Futurama was picked up again by Comedy Central in 2010 where it aired for an additional two seasons.

"John DiMaggio may be a great robot, but he's also a great human being," Cohen added. "Not many people or machines can say that. For the fourth time, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thrill to be back with our entire original cast and the phenomenal animators of Rough Draft Studios."

Hulu's Futurama revival is expected to premiere in 2023 with a 20-episode order.
