Another entry in the "Fast and Furious" franchise was effectively inevitable -- the recently released "Furious 7" has already grossed more than a billion dollars, the (ahem) fastest film to hit that mark, the highest-grossing earner in Universal Studios in franchise, and already the No. 7 film in all-time worldwide box office -- but now fans know when to expect it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Furious 8" (which may not be an official title) is on the way April 14, 2017, as announced Thursday at Universal's CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.

Franchise star Vin Diesel delivers a lofty promise in this quote: "We're going to make the best movie you've ever seen."

"Furious 7" was released on April 3 of this month, and has a current worldwide total of $1.16 billion.
