When Frank Grillo's Brock Rumlow was shown being pulled out from the rumble with burns covering his body in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, fans were excited because they knew that his transition into Crossbones wouldn't be too far behind. Unfortunately, when Crossbones did show up in Captain America: Civil War, it was only for about 10 minutes before he was killed off by none other than Scarlet Witch.

Following the character's supposed death in Captain America: Civil War, Grillo was quick to note that we never did see his body following the blast, allowing for a possible return down the line. After all, Rumlow did manage to survive having a building dropped on him in the prior film. Still, the character's return would be surprising, especially given the actor has previously stated in an interview with Collider that he's done with the character.

"There’s nowhere for it to go, unless you’re Captain America or Iron Man. They were talking about it, but I was like, ‘You know what? I’d just rather not do it.’"

Things have apparently changed since those comments, however, as in a recent interview with Forbes, Grillo teased a potential return for the villain, stating that there's "some news that nobody knows yet."

It's great to be part of Marvel too, and I have three boys who are fanatical about Marvel, and I was surprised not too long ago because there is some news that nobody knows yet, to do with my character, that's going to be really interesting and I'm excited about that.

While it's unknown what film Crossbones could potentially return in, anything is possible in the next two Avengers films, especially given the use of the Infinity Stones. For now, we'll have to wait and see what becomes of Grillo's latest tease.
