For the first time ever, the live-action world of the “X-Men” film franchise will be gracing television screens all around the world when “Legion” premieres on FX this February. Sometime after that, Fox will be debut their own Marvel show that’s connected to the X-Men universe. Rightfully so, fans are curious as to what they can expect from that show; apparently, one thing fans can expect to see in Fox's X-Men-based TV show are the mutant-hunting Sentinel robots.

Just this past week, Lauren Shuler Donner (a producer for the “X-Men” franchise) spoke to IGN about all things “Legion” and was asked about the Fox show. The interview reiterated the point that "Legion" and the unnamed X-Men-based show are set in an X-Men universe, but not the X-Men film universe. When asked why this was the case, Donner gave a curious answer that also revealed some interesting news about the show coming to FOX.

"Matt [Nix]'s [X-Men-based show] is much more a part of just the world in terms of there are mutants, mutants are hated and there are Sentinels -- though very different from what we've seen before," said Shuler Donner. "You feel like you're here in the X-Men world. With 'Legion,' we're our own universe. It gives [showrunner] Noah [Hawley] the freedom to do what he wants to do. Because we play with so many different timelines, and we rebooted and not really rebooted and all that, we felt like, 'OK, we're going to throw it out there and hope the fans accept it.'"

Now, while some X-Men fans may not be too happy with the fact that these shows aren't technically a part of the main “X-Men” film universe, the news about the Nix's Fox show should leave everyone excited. Not only will that show be much more in-line with the traditional X-Men mythos, it will apparently feature Sentinels! While Donner did say the robots would be “different from what we’ve seen before”, just the fact that they’ll be involved should leave fans hopeful and excited about whatever Matt Nix has in store for everyone.
