According to Deadline, “True Blood” veteran Stephen Moyer will join Blair Redford and Jamie Chung in Fox’s upcoming live-action pilot based on the “X-Men” franchise. The project hails from longtime “X-Men” director/producer Bryan Singer and “Burn Notice’s” Matt Nix.
The series will reportedly focus “…on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. The show appears particularly timely, dealing with the plight of minorities in society.”
Moyer will play the main character’s father, Reed, who’s described as “an ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA’s office with his responsibilities to his family.”
A partnership between Fox and Marvel Television, the “X-Men”-based drama was reported after the cancellation of a “Hellfire” project that was to be written by scribes of an early “Star Trek Beyond” script, Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne. Nix, Singer and Fox’s Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, along with Marvel Television’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory, are producing the project.
