Fan-favorite actress Amy Acker has landed the female in the untitled X-Men television drama from Fox and Marvel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Person of Interest" and "Angel" alum will star in the action-adventure as Kate Stewart, described as a woman struggling with her separation from husband Reed (Stephen Moyer of "True Blood") and her increasingly challenging teen children.

Developed by Matt Nix ("Burn Notice"), the series takes a "Midnight Special"-like approach to Marvel's mutant universe, focusing on two ordinary parents -- Acker and Moyer -- who discover their children possess extraordinary powers. Forced to go on the run from the government, the join an underground network of mutants and must fight for their survival.

In addition to Moyer, Acker joins previously announced cast members Natalie Alyn Lind, Blair Redford, Sean Teale and Jamie Chung, who will play established X-Men character Blink.

Acker is a veteran of genre TV, with prominent roles on "Angel," "Alias," "Dollhouse" and "Person of Interest." She also voiced the Huntress on the animated "Justice League Unlimited," and guest-starred on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Nix wrote the pilot for the X-Men series, which will be directed by franchise veteran Bryan Singer. They'll also executive produce alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
