With filming wrapped on "Scorch Trials," the second installment of the "Maze Runner" series, Fox is looking ahead to the third.

Deadline reports the studio has hired T.S. Nowlin, who co-wrote the first film and wrote the second, to turn his attention to "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure."

Based on James Dashner's bestselling post-apocalyptic sci-fi trilogy, the movies star "Teen Wolf's" Dylan O'Brien as a teenager who awakes with no memory to find himself trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys. Released in September, the first film grossed more than $340 million worldwide.

Although Dashner's trilogy ends with "The Death Cure," he's also written a prequel, "The Kill Order," with another in the works. Directed by Wes Ball, "The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials" arrives Sept. 18.
