Fox announced today that their Batman-inspired drama series "Gotham" will return next fall for season three. Their current season has spent a lot of time developing the villains, and young Bruce Wayne is closer than ever to discovering who really killed his parents.

Variety is reporting that Fox renewed the series today, with Fox's entertainment president stating that, "For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of 'Gotham' and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama." He also said that, "This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn't be more proud of this show."

Variety is also reporting that Paul Reubens, who plays Penguin's estranged father, will be joining the show as a series regular. His character makes his "Gotham" debut next Monday.

"Gotham" stars Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor, and David Mazouz and airs on Fox, Mondays at 8 p.m.
