After more than a year of speculation, Fox at last confirmed earlier this month that Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams will star as Magik and Wolsfsbane in New Mutants. Other key roles still need to be filled before the X-Men spinoff can begin production this summer, but a new casting call may hint at which character the filmmakers are turning to next: Warlock.

Posted on Project Casting, the listing calls for very thin and athletic men between the heights of 6-foot-9 and 7-foot-4 who "must be able to chase kids down a hall" and must be OK with wearing prosthetics and makeup. The filming dates and location -- from July 13 to July 21 in Boston -- certainly suggest director Josh Boone's New Mutants. But while some have speculated the production is searching for someone to stand in for the demonic bear at the center of "The Demon Bear Saga" -- the seminal Marvel Comics storyline that serves as primary inspiration for the film -- the physical description would seem to make Warlock far more likely.

A member of a "techno-organic" alien race, Warlock was introduced by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz in 1984's New Mutants #18 as part of a subplot that ran through "The Demon Bear Saga," before joining the team of gifted youngsters in Issue 21. He's shapeshifter who, unlike other members of the Technarchy , refused to drain sentient species of their "lifeglow."

It's possible that New Mutants will only require an actor for specific scenes (which might explain the week-long shoot), and rely on CGI to create Warlock in others.

Written and directed by Josh Boone, the film is also expected to feature classic New Mutants characters Moonstar, Cannonball and Sunspot. New Mutants is targeted to begin filming this summer in Montreal for release on April 13, 2018.
