Fox International Brings “The Walking Dead” Overseas

Much like the distribution of American-made comic books, media across TV and film platforms don’t always have a sure fire way to be seen by genre fans living abroad. However, for one highly-anticipated graphic novel adaptation, the potential audience just got a lot bigger.

Deadline is reporting that “The Walking Dead” - the AMC adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s Image Comics series - has been picked up for international distribution by Fox International Channels. A division of Rupert Murdoch’s expansive media empire, FIC has entertainment channels in well over 20 countries worldwide including locations in the UK, India, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America and parts of Africa.

Developed by director Frank Darabont, “The Walking Dead’s” six-episode first season will first debut in the U.S. and Canada this October before spreading out internationally in 2011.
