This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of pieces looking at particular odd/strange/interesting instances of retroactively connecting different comic book characters (for instance, Uncanny X-Men #268 retroactively established that Wolverine knew both Captain America and the Black Widow from World War II). Here is an archive of all of the past pieces.

Today, we take a look at the time that Wolverine met Spider-Man's parents...

In 1997, Marvel had a special month-long event where every title they were then currently publishing (basically everyone but the Heroes Reborn titles) had a special minus one issue that took place in the time before the first issue of the series came out. Obviously, since not a whole lot happened with Spider-Man before his first issue (just Amazing Fantasy #15), his issues were mostly about young Peter and his relationship with Uncle Ben and Aunt May. However, Untold Tales of Spider-Man #-1, by Roger Stern, John Romita Sr. and Al Milgrom, instead showed an untold tale of Richard and Mary Parker, the secret agent parents of Peter Parker.

The whole issue shows them going on a mission (while filling in a bunch of back story, as well) to track a Baroness. They eventually found her in the midst of some nasty business but along with her, they discovered "Agent 10," also known as Logan, the man later to be known as Wolverine!

Cute story. What amazing Romita artwork! It'd be kind of interesting to see Wolverine bring this up in the future (whenever he comes back from the dead, that is).
