The event will mark the live-action debut of the musical foe, who was introduced in 2009 on the animated "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," where he was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris. In the episode, "Mayhem of the Music Meister," the villain could control others — including Batman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Aquaman, Gorilla Grodd and Black Manta — through song.

The set photos depict not only Criss but also Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Carlos Valdes as Vibe.

Titled "Duet," the crossover will kick off March 20 with a lead-in on "Supergirl," similar to how the setup for last fall's "Invasion!" was handled, and then continue on the March 21 episode of "The Flash." The event will feature musical numbers by Criss, "The Flash" stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin and Valdes, "Supergirl" stars Melissa Benoist and Jeremy Jordan, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" star Victor Garber, and "Arrow" regular John Barrowman.

Airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, "Supergirl" stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood and Chris Wood. Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, "The Flash" stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin and Keiynan Lonsdale.
