WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Flash Season 8, Episode 10, "Reckless," which aired Wednesday, April 6 on The CW.An old familiar face recently rolled into Central City. Now that Black Hole is out of order, Sue Dearbon has decided to ditch her spy catsuit and focus on revitalizing the family business. Along the way, she's checked in with Iris and stumbled on the phantom-like Tinya. In last night's episode of The Flash, "Reckless," Sue and Iris paired up to track down Tinya's biological mother. In a pinch, Sue drew on her connections, sleuthing skills, and wealth to help out. However, nothing could have prepared her for Iris' temporal power going haywire and wiping Tinya's mother out of existence.

Natalie Dreyfuss, who portrays Sue, recently spoke with CBR about bringing the character to life. She dove into life outside of Ralph Dibny, Sue's evolution, power-couple Iris and Sue, and sticking around to solve the current crisis.

The Flash Season 8 Sue

CBR: It's been a while since we have seen Sue. What has she been up to? How has Sue changed and evolved since her last appearance?

Natalie Dreyfuss: I think there is definitely a big change going on with her in terms of what she feels she can contribute. There's a lot of funds available to her. I think she wants to use them wisely and do the right thing. That sort of brought her into this world with Iris, giving her some property to build out her dreams. Sue really recognizes the value of Team Flash and wants to support and be a part of it in any way she can.

The last time Sue showed up, her story was intertwined with Ralph Dibny. How does it feel to have this adventure with Team Flash outside of Ralph?

It's interesting. The storyline with Ralph was pretty separated because we hadn't gotten very far into a love story. It was getting to know this woman. It didn't feel too crazy to me to be able to have my own backstory and complicated life and value and powers and all these things I was bringing to the table. That's sort of what we had in the beginning.

It was always the intention even when I first got the call from [showrunner] Eric Wallace, [that] I wasn't just going to be somebody's girlfriend or wife. I was going to be my own person eventually, if those things came together. It would be far down the line. So, it's fun to be able to interact with other parts of Team Flash because, personally, I get to play with different actors. It's a really lovely group of people, and that's always fun. As a character, it's fun to see the different dynamics and build out that relationship now with Iris. It's a cool dynamic duo, these power-playing women.

Sue and Iris team up in this episode. In what ways do they complement each other?

I think Sue is very keen on who in her life is someone that she can really respect and really support. Iris is just that person to her that she sees as someone who has been such a huge part of Team Flash and not having the same power as some of the other people and still being able to bring so much to the team. When Sue starts to team up with her, Iris is interested. Sue is pretty honored she gets to be around someone that she sees herself in but also brings so much to the table that is so different.

How does Sue put her own special skill set to good use?

Sue is definitely used to being in control. She definitely knows what the plan is and then has a few backup plans ready to go. She can really predict what is going to happen and what people are going to do. It's that spy training and being one step ahead all the time. I think we get to see her run into some challenges where she is not in control and has to figure out on the spot what it feels like to be vulnerable like that and just not know what to do or what is coming next. [She has to] feel like the things that she is really good at and come so easy to her, like taking down 12 Zooms at a time, aren't going to help in this specific situation. She's going to have to figure something else out.

Sue proves quite resourceful when they need to help this young woman, Tinya, this time around.

It's fun to play with this dynamic of helping this young girl and, also, just being a character that has access to everything at all times just based on the amount of money that she has and the connections that she has. There are no roadblocks. She sort of laughs at roadblocks, especially something so small as, "Oh, we could never…" Sue is like, "I think we can. It's going to be OK."

Sue is quippy and confident. What have you enjoyed about chewing on that type of dialogue?

It's fun to see the scripts come out and hear my voice in it a little bit. The writers get to know you on a show after you've been on it for a minute. They can play to your own candor and your own personality. It feels really fun to be on something enough times where they get to hand you that stuff, where they know you will play with it and have fun with it. They encourage it on this show, which I think is very rare. It makes this one an amazing job to be encouraged to be playful even if the storyline is serious, being able to bring that sense of wit and cleverness to these scenes.

Sue witnesses Iris' temporal powers glitch. Tinya's mother, Renee, is wiped out of time. What does Sue make of what she sees?

It's one of those moments of vulnerability, of not knowing what to do and having this totally unexpected outcome that she didn't plan for, which is so rare for Sue. She plans for so many outcomes. It's completely terrifying, and the situation makes her feel helpless. That's a new color for Sue, helplessness.

It's safe to say Sue will be sticking around to help unravel what's going on. What can you tease about the role she plays in the next few episodes?

We get to see what is coming for Iris and what she's going through. We also get to see these women that are sticking together and care about each other and care about this young girl, Tinya, also struggling. You can see it in Tinya's reaction to us. "Why are you guys here? Why do you care about me?" We had fun with that dynamic. We didn't need a reason to step up and do the right thing. I think we'll get to see Sue be able to step up and do the right thing more and more and figure out what that thing is on the fly and be there for this other powerful woman she really respects.

Will we get to see any spy moves? Will Sue suit up again?

One can only hope. It's definitely fun. It is cold and uncomfortable, that rubber suit, but it looks real cool. It is not easy to have a pee break, but it is a very cool-looking suit.
