As production gets under way on the "Arrow" spinoff "The Flash," the first photos have surfaced from the Vancouver, Canada, set of the CW pilot.

Although there aren't any shots (yet) of the Scarlet Speedster's signature costume in action, the Daily Mail debuted images of Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, pulling himself from an overturned car and then running and jumping from the subsequent explosion. There's also a photo of the 24-year-old actor with co-star Candice Patton, who plays Iris Allen.

On his Instagram account, Gustin posted a close-up of himself, showcasing injuries that are apparently real. "Set today," he wrote. "Utilizing a real scar."

DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and "Arrow" executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg wrote the pilot, which is directed by television veteran David Nutter ("Game of Thrones," "The X-Files"). "The Flash" also stars Jesse L. Martin as Detective West, Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne, Patrick Sabongui as Captain David Singh, Danielle Panabaker as bioengineering expert Caitlin Snow, Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen and John Wesley Shipp in an unrevealed role.
