Jon Boyega invites audiences to "join the Jaeger uprising" by visiting GoJaeger.com in the first 'recruitment video' for Pacific Rim Uprising, the anticipated giant mechanical versus giant robots sequel. But before the Star Wars star's familiar face is even seen, we're treated to nearly a minute of footage introducing the film's roster of new Jaeger designs, including the ominously named Gipsy Avenger.

While the first Pacific Rim wasn’t a massive box office success domestically — pulling in a meager a little over $100 million stateside — the film performed well overseas, scoring an impressive $300 million worldwide. While plans for a sequel have been underway for some time now, it wasn’t until creator Guillermo del Toro left the project in 2016 that things began to fall into place. Following del Toro's departure, it was announced that former Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight would make his feature film debut with “Pacific Rim: Uprising.”

The film is believed to take place a few years after the first movie, following Jake Pentecost (Boyega), the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost, who witnessed his father’s demise at the end of “Pacific Rim.”

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight and written by Guillermo del Toro, Zak Penn, Jon Spaihts, Derek Connolly, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder and T.S. Nowlin, “Pacific Rim: Uprising” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 23, 2018.
