The first look at Lawrence Gillard, Jr. as Bob Stookey in "The Walking Dead" season four.

With Comic-Con International 2013 a mere day away, more details continue to trickle out about some of entertainment's hottest comic book properties -- including AMC's "The Walking Dead." Entertainment Weekly has posted a new photograph from behind the scenes of season four that gives the first real look at Lawrence Gillard Jr. as new survivor Bob Stookey, who was an alcoholic Woodbury denizen and Army medic in the comics -- something that may have changed for the television series.

"His backstory is not entirely the same as in the comic and the novel," incoming showrunner Scott M. Gimple told EW.com. "I think he's seen things go bad over and over, and winding up in this stable place doesn't shake him from his experience. He struggles with that."

Gillard further elaborated on the character, saying, "You can see there's something deeper and darker that's going on with this character, just from the first episode. We don't really know what it is. We jus know he's got some issues that he's dealing with."

Announced as a series regular in April, Gillard is best known for his role as D'Angelo Barksdale on "The Wire," but has also appeared in "Friday Night Lights," "Army Wives" and "Southland."
