Another day, another X-Men: Days of Future Past reveal from director Bryan Singer. This time, it’s a photo of James McAvoy as either a 1970s Charles Xavier or the forgotten member of Led Zepplin, accompanied by the Twitter hashtag “Serpico.”
It’s of course no secret that the bulk of the Fox sequel takes placed in 1973, more than a decade after the events of the original film, this is the first time we’ve seen a photo of one of the stars in clothing of the era.
Opening July 18, 2014 — in 3D, no less — X-Men: Days of Future Past takes its name from the classic 1981 Marvel comics story by Chris Claremont and John Byrne that depicts a dystopian alternate timeline created by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants from assassinating a U.S. senator. In that future, the giant robotic Sentinels have become the de facto rulers of the United States, where mutants are hunted down and placed in internment camps.
The film also stars Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Daniel Cudmore, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing and Adan Canto.
