During the press conference for the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” Blu-ray release, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and producer Jeremy Latcham answered questions ranging from Spider-Man’s involvement in upcoming movies to the end of the Avengers “as we know them.”
Feige also confirmed a fan theory regarding the Infinity Gauntlet, the artifact used to house the all-powerful Infinity Stones. The studio head was asked if the gauntlet glimpsed briefly within Odin’s treasure room in 2011’s “Thor” was the same one Thanos put on in the mid-credits scene of this year’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” After praising the question profusely, Feige replied:
“[S]ir, it’s a great question. It’s a good question. I may as well answer because you asked it, which I like. It’s not the same one. Not the same one.”
Considering the lifespan of Asgardians, which stretch into “thousands of years” territory, it’s possible that the gauntlet in Odin’s possession comes from a previous attempt by someone to collect the powerful stones. Feige’s answer also confirms that Thanos didn’t break into Asgard at some point in between “Thor: The Dark World” and “Age of Ultron” to score the gauntlet; whether he even knows about the one in Asgard is probably a moot point now, since he already has his own.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” arrives on Blu-ray on October 2.
