Mere days after its Season 2 premiere, AMC has renewed "Fear the Walking Dead" for a 16-episode third season.

With that comes a new season of its live after-show, "Talking Dead: Fear," hosted by Chris Hardwick.

The news arrives with the release of "Live+3" ratings that lifted Sunday's season premiere to 8.8 million total viewers (up from 6.7 million in its initial airing), 5.3 million of which were in that coveted adults 18-49 demographic.

"Talking Dead: Fear" drew in 2.8 million total viewers, with viewers, with 1.6 million in the key demo.

"What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in 'Fear the Walking Dead' is to be applauded," Charlie Collier, president of AMC, said in a statement. "Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world - it's fresh, eerie and compelling and we're all in for the ride."

"Fear the Walking Dead" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
