Fans of the Fast & Furious film franchise may finally get their wish, as Ludacris has teased the next installment, F9, may take place in outer space.

Ludacris dropped the potential spoiler on SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham radio show. When the prospect of the Fast & Furious franchise having nowhere else to go except for space, Ludacris responded, "I will say that you are very intuitive, because you said something right, but I'm not going to give it away."

F9 was pushed back from its originally scheduled release date of May 22, 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Now, the ninth Fast & Furious film will arrive in theaters April 2, 2021, almost an entire year later.

"We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga," NCBUniversal said in a statement at the time of announcement. "That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May."

"We are moving the global release date to April 2021, with North America opening on April 2," the statement continued. "While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration."

Directed by Justin Lin, F9 stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Cardi B. The film arrives in theaters April 2, 2021.
