WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Fantastic Four #26 by Dan Slott, R.B. Silva, Jesus Aburov and VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

Despite the best efforts of most children, they end up repeating their parents in surprising ways. One notable example just appeared in Fantastic Four #26, where Valeria Richards seems to have inherited a new version of one of her mother's most infamous relationship hurdles.

With the Forever Gate giving her access to the multiverse, Valeria Richards just got her own version of her mother's famous love triangle with Reed Richards and Namor.

The creation of the Forever Gate comes with a lot of possibilities for the future of the Marvel Universe. It's possible that the Fantastic Four would be able to utilize the gate to reach each and every corner of the galaxy for any number of adventures. But one of the very first ones ends up being a secret one taken by Valeria Richards. One of their journies after the events of Secret Wars took the Richards family across the ever-regrowing multiverse where a now-teenage Valeria Richards got the chance to flirt heavily with a young prince from an alien world named Arboro.

Prince Arboro receives the help of the Richards family to deal with aliens decimating his world's forests. The teen prince was quick to thank the Richards family for their help and took particular interest in Val. He even asked her to stay on his world as his consort, something the teenage girl actually seemed to consider until Reed recognized the very Namor-esque qualities of the young man. Eventually, the Richards family returned to Earth -- but memories of Araboro have remained. With the Forever Gate, Valeria is actually able to coordinate a portal back to his distant world and be there within moments, giving her the chance to see him again -- only to discover that Arboro has a number of consorts already at her side and that Valeria would just be one of many.

Returning to Earth furious, Valeria complains about boys in general. Despite her genius-level intellect and experience traveling through the cosmos, Valeria is still ultimately a teenager. She still has the emotions of a young woman, growing into herself, becoming increasingly romantically interested in others. While it's a painful lesson to learn that sometimes the boy you like isn't exactly the good guy you'd hoped it to be, it's an important one for her to figure out.

But the Forever Gate might actually be the key to giving her a different love interest. Not long after, the Forever Gate is used to bring the Future Foundation back home after they spend some time hunting down the remains of the Molecule Man. While most of the young geniuses decide to return home to their families at least for a time, Bentley-13 and Dragon Man have nowhere else to go. Bentley-13 and Valeria were best friends when they were younger, constantly coming up with new schemes and plans. Now older, Bentley is an over-confident and snarky young genius. But upon seeing Valeria, he becomes slightly more sheepish, even sharing a small smile while saying he missed her -- a feeling Valeria reveals is shared.

Between Arboro and Bentley, it seems like Valeria is getting her own love triangle. Similar to her mother's own conflict over choosing to be with Reed Richards or the Atlantean Prince Namor, Valeria is drawn to the handsome alien prince while still close with the brilliant hero. It'll be interesting to see how Valeria adjusts to these new elements of her life, especially with Bentley set to stay with the Richards family and help them maintain the Forever Gate.
