You may remember Michael Baxter, the prison guard from Australia who hoped to land a place in Guinness World Records with the 203 Simpsons characters tattooed on his back. Last week, he did just that.

Guinness has announced the 52-year-old grandfather holds the record for the most tattoos of characters from a single animated series. Because, yes, that's a thing.

Baxter spent 130 hours and more than $8,500 in one year getting the tattoos, which in order to qualify for the record had to depict the characters as the appear on the long-running television series. He also had to provide details to Guinness of which episodes the characters appeared ... in the form in which they're shown on his back.

“I wanted to get something which was unique, which nobody else had or would even think of getting,” Baxter said. “I’m a huge fan of the show. I love the tattoo, and I know lots of other people, including my grandchildren, do too.”

Last year another Simpsons fan, New Zealander Lee Weir, earned another (if similar) Guinness World Record for his 41 tattoos of Homer on his left arm: most tattoos of the same cartoon character tattooed on the body. Because, yes, that's a thing too.
