Patrick Hughes' first big-deal American film, Expendables 3, might not have hit yet, but he's already adding new projects to his slate. According to TheWrap, he has closed a deal with Screen Gems to helm a remake of the Indonesian martial-arts thriller The Raid.

The 2011 original, directed by Gareth Evans, follows an elite police squad assigned to covertly enter a rundown apartment block and kill the brutal crime lord who rules over it, allowing the city's criminals to rent rooms under his protection. But when the team's cover is blown, the building's killers and thieves are sent after them, leaving a rookie cop to fight floor by floor, room by room to complete the mission -- and rescue his drug-dealing brother.

Brothers Chris and Liam Hemsworth are said to be "potential targets" for the remake, which was adapted by Out of the Furnace writer Brad Inglesby. Evans and XYZ Films will produce.
