Superhero turned private investigator Jessica Drew begins a new chapter in her life with the release of "Spider-Woman" #5. That issue sees the veteran hero doing something she's never done before: wear a new costume. Marvel Comics has provided CBR News with an exclusive first look at the variant cover for the momentous issue, which features Siya Oum's take on the eye-catching Kris Anka design.

The Oum cover depicts Jessica Drew in her new duds, caught both in a spotlight and the line of fire. The variant pays homage to Joe Sinnott's classic cover for 1978's "Spider-Woman" #1, with the biggest difference being the hero's new street-smart design.

Jessica's new look turned heads when it was first unveiled back in December. Editor Nick Lowe explained Spider-Woman's modern makeover, saying, "As much as I'm a fan of spandex and it has its time and place, I felt Jess as a character could move away from that for a good long while." "Spider-Woman" #5 also marks the debut of Javier Rodriguez as the series' interior artist, joinign writer Dennis Hopeless just as Jessica Drew begins her new career as a detective.

"Spider-Woman" #5 arrives in March 2015.
