Top Cow has exclusively provided CBR News with the announcement that Zack Kaplan and Giovanni Timpano's "Eclipse" has been promoted to ongoing status, after the success of its debut issue which released last month.

"Eclipse" follows the fallout of a mysterious solar event that transformed the sun’s light into deadly immolating rays. Focusing on the world’s few survivors who now live in nocturnal cities, the series explores a killer that emerges who uses the sunlight to burn his victims. When the killer targets the daughter of a solar power mogul, it falls to a disillusioned solar engineer to protect her.

"Happy to see 'Eclipse' find a strong audience and warrant a continuing series!” Top Cow President Matt Hawkins said in an official statement. “The first arc is amazing and the outline I just read for the second is even stronger."

Kaplan said of the series' new ongoing status, "The response to this series has been simply incredible, and I’m super thrilled to continue this story. It’s going to be killer!"

Timpano added, "'Eclipse's' characters and its world are like children to me, so I’m excited to continue to spend time with them. After a wonderful response from the readers, there is an even stronger incentive to do better than what we did in the first arc. Fear the sun!"
