Jim Zub and Steve Cummings' new Image Comics series "Wayward" is set to debut August 27, and in anticipation of the series' first issue, the publisher has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at alternate covers for "Wayward" #1 by Alina Urusov, Jeff "Chamba" Cruz and Adam Warren and John Rauch; and the FanExpo variant cover by Kalman Andrasofszky. Plus, a look down the road at the covers for "Wayward" #4 by Philip Tan and "Wayward" #5 by Marguerite Sauvage.

"'Wayward' is a project I've been working with Steve on for a little while now. We wanted to do a story -- an action/supernatural story -- set in Tokyo," Zub told CBR in May. "We're both big fans of Japan and Japanese mythology and we wanted to deliver that with a "Buffy"-style "teenagers fighting monsters" vibe, and put it all together in a really cool and appealing package. If I were to sum the series up, 'Wayward' is a bombastic supernatural story about myths and magic, and finding friends who will stand by you, against all odds."
